Insight into Parenting-- It's All About the Relationship
One of the most important jobs you can have in life is being a parent. Yet no formal training or prior experience is required to become one. The outcome of our parenthood directly impacts the people we value the most, our children. Being a good parent is not based on job performance or checking off items on a list. Being a parent is about developing and maintaining relationships. With all meaningful long-term relationships there are ups and downs with misunderstandings, and sometimes hurt feelings. In addition, add to the fact that children are usually under-developed in their relationship skills. This can be challenging and hard to navigate parenthood. Be encouraged. You do not have to be perfect to raise healthy thriving children. As a parent you can serve as a model to help your child. Over the next 4 weeks we will discuss all thing parenting and raising children.
