How parents serve as role models for their children

No one is perfect but we must be mindful of our actions. Young children have a way of demonstrating what is going on in their environments. In many ways, parents are role models for their children. It is important to show your child how to conduct themselves. The “do as I say and not as I do” is not effective. Children learn so much through observation. For instance, if the grocery line is long and you are cursing out the cashier as your child watches, you are teaching how they should act in a similar situation. You do have to be perfect to raise good children, but you need to be mindful of what you are teaching them. If you want them to be respectful. You should display respectfulness. As parents, you get to teach and influence your child to have your values. When we as parents need to provide care for our children that promotes healthy development, and protects them from injury, abuse, neglect, and maltreatment. Are you helping your child develop emotional health, positive self-image, the ability to handle stress, overcome fears and accept disappointments appropriately?
